My mom has Ajuga ground cover growing in a part of her lawn and it is tough to get out. I am afraid you will either have to kill everything or hand pull it. I looked it up and it appears to be a ground cover. I thought it was the plant I have in the pot with the Brugmansia on the patio. Hi Maguire, I'm not familiar with Blue Star Creeper being in the lawn. As the children marry and give you grandchildren, you family will need and appreciate your spacious home. Also, please do not feel a large yard and large house are a waste once the children leave home. A white stone or cement painted with white reflective paint would be nice, along with a blue stone edging on each side. As another poster suggested, I would widen the walkway so that it extends a bit to the left and to the right of the steps. Some bulb plants at the left of the evergreen would look nice and could lend seasonal change. I would keep the evergreen by the mailbox and trim it as needed.

If the mailbox has a flag, paint the handle white and the actual flag red. You might want to tape off a one-inch section at each end of the side and over the roof and paint each one-inch section a royal blue. I notice the mailbox needs painting, so I would paint it white. You could brighten the yard by painting the stone edging with a white reflective paint that will help illuminate your yard at night and offer a crisp contrast from the grass in the daytime.

In keeping with the blue scheme, I would suggest a clear, light blue for the porch ceiling and a slightly darker blue-grey for the porch floor and treads of the steps, painting the risers or backs white. When the time comes to replace the roof, I would recommend a metal roof in midnight blue. So, I would recommend a glossy midnight blue (between royal and navy) for the front door and adding shutters in this color.

Your home is a pretty design, and it seems you do like blue.
